All split reins are paired as they are cut from the hide. This insures that each rein is equal in strength to its partner. They are cut from premium harness leather bought from a reputable source right here in the USA.
Harness leather reins are cut and split to a thickness of approximately 3/16". The popper ends are left at their full thickness which can be from 1/4" to 5/16". They are approximately 5/8" in width and beveled on the edges. All reins are conditioned with a premium tannery grade leather conditioner. They may feel a bit "greasy" at first, but this conditioner keeps them buttery soft and water resistant. Leather is hand stretched, but will eventually gain another inch or so in length.
Reins are sold in footage lengths of 7', 8' and 9'. Actual lengths will be longer since inches are not included. All reins include scissor snaps and are complete and ready to use.
