Curb or Chin Straps
Our curb straps, or chin straps as we used to call them in the 60's, are made from latigo, English bridle, or harness leather.  They have either the slit braids or twisted braids, and give a little more "bite" than a smooth leather curb strap yet less than a chain.  Some have buckles and others tie to the bit the same way you would tie a rope halter or bosal hanger.
